or cowboy / engineer boots or other slip-on styles.
AUTHORITY OF PERSONS DURING WAR TIME: (page 7)
- Act 150 of 1967
32.555 Unorganized militia; power of the governor.
Sec. 155 The governor may order into the defense force any members of the unorganized militia in case of riot, tumult,
breach of peace, resistance of process, or for service in aid of civil authority, whether state or federal, or in time of
public danger, disaster, crisis, catastrophe or other public emergency within the state.
- 32.655 State defense force and unorganized militia; determination of emergency.
Sec 255 In case of war, or a national emergency, when the national guard may be in the military service of the United
States, the defense force shall be ready and able to protect the state in case of insurrection, invasion, disaster or other
emergency, actual or imminent. In such case the governor, as commander-in-chief, may use the defense force
augmented if necessary by all or part of the unorganized militia not responsive to the orders of the president for the
time being. The determination of the governor that an emergency exists or is imminent is conclusive.
- MMCW paragraphs 1 through 5 remain in effect unless found in conflict with the
MICHIGAN MILITARY ACT 150 of 1967.
Additionally; Brigade Command to have the authority to enforce at all times the
MICHIGAN CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE OF1980, Act 523 of 1980 inclusive.
- In addition the chief civilian police officer (Sheriff) of the county may call upon the unorganized militia to aid in the
work of the sheriff department in time of real civil distress as determined by the sheriff, following the guidelines set
forth in 'Act 150 of 1967' for the governors actions.
WEAPONS: (page 10)
- MMCW paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4 remain the same.
- Additionally; Militia members are expected to carry their chosen MBR's (main battle rifles) when attending militia
exercises and call-ups, however MBR's will not be carried when attending non-battle training and meetings.
Side arms may be carried openly at any militia event or meeting, provided a round is not chambered in mag fed guns.
Carry and transportation of all weapons will conform to the laws of the State of Michigan,
a traditional open carry state.
- Only in self defense shall a militia member discharge his or her firearm except; during training, imminent threat of life
to themselves or another and acts of war.
- Note: We highly recommend the 7.62 X 39 mm ammunition be used in our MBR's. This is for consolidation of supplies
in the armory. The caliber 5.56 mm NATO is also acceptable but may not be as readily available in armory until we
become attached to the "regular military" and at that time we will most likely be issued rifles in this caliber.
These two calibers are the least expensive to procure along with 9 X 19 mm and the 22LR (an unacceptable combat
caliber), although it is much less expensive and may be used for target training and food procurement hunting.
